The Centro Español de Tampa is pleased to inform our members and friends of the club that the remarkable exhibition, Invisible Immigrants, will open on Saturday, March 1st at the Tampa Bay History Center.
This exhibit tells the story of the Spanish diaspora in the United States between the years 1868 and 1945. It was created by the Fundación Consejo España – EEUU and is based on the extensive research conducted by our friends, Professor James D. Fernández and Filmmaker Luis Argeo. This exquisitely curated exhibit was presented in Spain over a five-year period in the cities of Madrid, Almería, and Gijón and attracted 30,000 visitors and much acclaim. We are thrilled that Tampa was selected by the Fundación to be the first city in the United States to host it. The exhibition will run until August 3.
The Fundación Consejo España – EEUU is a private, not-for-profit corporation founded in 1997. It is made up of cultural and academic institutions and members of the Spanish government. Its mission is to strengthen the ties between Spain and the United States.
The Centro Español is grateful to Board Members Cynthia Tamargo Garcia and Anthony Carreño for their tireless efforts to help the organizers of the exhibit ensure that it will be memorable.
