Jesús Expósito was born in Cuba of Spanish parents. He emigrated to the United States in the early 1960s with little more than the clothes on his back. Lacking knowledge in the English language, he initially could only find employment in the well-known Cuervo’s Café in Ybor City. Thus began his journey in our nation. Devoted to his beloved Delfina (Nena), Jesús was a tireless, industrious, and dedicated servant to his employer and to his customers. Eventually, Jesús and Nena were able to become co-owners of the popular Tio Pepe restaurant in Clearwater. As shrewd an investor as he was a tireless worker, Jesús amassed a small fortune and in his later years chose to honor his Spanish heritage by giving generously to the organizations that he and Delfina held dear.
The Centro Español is eternally grateful to Jesús and Delfina Expósito for their generosity of spirit and their financial largesse. We honor their memory and are pleased to present this remembrance as a gesture of our appreciation.
