The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that the Honorable E.J. Salcines was elected to the Board.  Welcome E.J.  Here is a brief biographical sketch of our friend.

Emiliano José (E.J.) Salcines was born in Tampa, Florida to immigrants from northern Spain.  His mother was from Candamo, in Asturias and his father from Laredo, Santander (now Cantábria).  E.J. has been a lawyer for 53 years having been the elected State (Prosecuting) Attorney for 16 years and Judge of the District Court of Appeal for 15 years.  He received his B.A. from Florida Southern College and his J.D. from South Texas College of Law.  He was a visiting lecturer for 35 years at Northwestern University Law School and has 2 honorary doctorates from Stetson University College of Law and Florida Southern College.  For 18 years he served as the Honorary Vice Consul of Spain and received the Medal of Isabel La Católica from King Juan Carlos and La Cruz del Mérito Militar (con banda blanca) from the government of Spain.  He was selected as Tampa’s 1993 Hispanic Man of the Year.  He now produces television documentaries on Tampa History for the City of Tampa Television network, titled Tampa’s Untold Stories.
